The Cooper Union requires submission of SAT or ACT scores as part of the undergraduate admissions process for Engineering. However, we recognize that there may be exceptional circumstances that prevent some applicants from completing standardized testing.
Applicants who are unable to submit SAT scores due to extenuating circumstances — such as limited access to testing, financial hardship, or other personal or regional barriers — may request a waiver of this requirement.
Waiver requests must be submitted no later than November 1 for Early Decision and January 5 for Regular Decision.
All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. You will receive a response back if your testing requirement was waived.
To request an SAT/ACT waiver, please submit a formal written request under 200 words that includes a clear explanation of the circumstances preventing you from taking or submitting SAT/ACT scores.
