Hands-on STEM courses for high school students exploring engineering, computer science, design, and innovation.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Design Thinking: Protoype (500 words max)
Identify an engineering or technical design flaw and present your improved solution. Your response must address:
- What problem are you solving?
- How does your prototype work?
- Who benefits from your design and how?
Visual Evidence: Please upload a video or photo(s) of your prototype.
Short Answer (250 words max)
Why do you wish to join STEM Saturdays? Explain how you will use the skills learned to add value to your school or local community.
Academic Records:
- Unofficial transcripts accepted.
- 9th graders (without HS grades) must submit 8th-grade transcript.
- Include a guidance counselor explanation for any grades below B.
Recommendation Letter:
- Required from a teacher or supervisor (middle school or guidance counselor for 9th graders).
- Must address leadership, teamwork, and motivation.
- Letters are due by the application deadline.
Student Submission Only:
Students must complete the application personally. Parental impersonation leads to disqualification.
Financial Aid & Fee Waivers
Full financial aid is available.
To qualify for a full fee waiver, students must reside within the five boroughs and be currently enrolled in a NYC public or charter high school.
Please Note: Fee waivers are limited and awarded based on demonstrated financial need.
