Introduction to Architecture: Summer 2026
    The Cooper Union’s Introduction to Architecture Online: Foundation Studies & Portfolio Development program is an intensive, full-time course of study that introduces students to the discipline of architecture. Rooted in the unique studio ethic that has shaped the School of Architecture for over thirty years, the program offers rigorous foundation studies, guided portfolio development, and an introduction to the history and practice of architecture. Students work closely with faculty and peers in a supportive, exploratory online environment, developing skills that strengthen future applications to schools of architecture, art, and design. Admissions are on a rolling basis; early application is strongly encouraged.

    INTRODUCTION TO ARCHITECTURE ONLINE: Foundation Studies & Portfolio Development for High School Students

    Schedule: 5 Weeks, Monday-Friday
    Dates: July 6 - August 7, 2026
    Time:Virtual Live Synchronous Sessions 11AM - 2PM EST
    • Student daily tutorial and desk-critique sessions will be assigned to either 9AM-11AM or 2PM-4PM EST to accommodate time zone differences.


    Open to current high school students as well as students who will still be in high school in fall 2026. Students who complete all assignments receive an official Certificate of Completion from The Cooper Union.

    Schedule: 4 Weeks (4 credits), Monday-Friday
    Dates: July 6 - July 31, 2026
    Time:Virtual Live Synchronous Sessions 11AM - 2PM EST
    • Student daily tutorial and desk-critique sessions will be assigned to either 9AM-11AM or 2PM-4PM EST to accommodate time zone differences.


    Open to students from any academic field, including those recently graduated from high school with college-level experience. Credits earned are transferable at the discretion of the student’s home institution.
