Summer STEM Classes:
    3-week Summer STEM 2025 classes for current 9th Grade Students: 
    • Design Thinking in Engineering

    6-week Summer STEM 2025 classes for current 9, 10 & 11 grade students:

    • Design and Drawing for Engineering
    • Exploring NYC Through Data Visualization
    • The Origin of Patterns: Science, Math, and Art
    • 3D Design & Fabrication: From Concept to Creation
    • Circular Design: Engineering Sustainability for a Greener Future
    • Explorations in Interdisciplinary Art: Developing Sculpture and Generative Image with Arduino, Touch Designer, and More
    • Computational Physics
    • Embedded Systems: C-ing Beyond Arduino (Prerequisite: prior knowledge of one of the following: Python, Java Script, C/C++, Scratch or other block coding tool)

    • Students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grade may apply. Students must apply to classes in the grade they are currently in.
    • Application and Letters of Recommendation Deadline: Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. EST
    • Class Dates:
      • 3-week Session 1: July 7 -  24
      • 3-week Session 2: July 28- August 14
      • 6-week Classes: July 7 - August 14
    • Class Times: In Person - 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
    • Location: The Cooper Union campus at 41 Cooper Square, New York
    You may qualify to become a Cooper Next Scholar and earn a stipend:
    1. You may apply to be a Cooper Next Scholar if:
      • You have not previously participated in the Cooper Next Scholar program.
      • You are a current 10th or 11th grade student living in and attending a New York City school.
      • Participate in communication and career workshops on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5 pm during Summer STEM.
      • Are a low- and moderate-income student applying for financial aid.
      • Fill out the additional essay question: How will your STEM pathway benefit your school, community and/or your future career? (100-150 words)
    Cost for Summer STEM:
    • 3-week class: $1950
    • 6-week class: $3950
    • Low and moderate income families can apply for financial aid. Students whose family income is 100% of the New York Area Median Income or less can qualify for a full fee waiver.  Students whose family income is up to 120% of the 2024 New York Area Median Income or less can qualify for a partial or full fee waiver. For example, a family of four with a household income between $46,590 - $124,240 is eligible for full financial aid, a family of four with a household income between $124,241-$155,300 is eligible for partial financial aid. Preference is given to students from New York City Public Schools. You or your parent's citizenship status does not affect your eligibility for a fee waiver.
    To complete the application, you will need:
    1. Your transcript. Unofficial transcripts and current report cards are accepted.
    2. Write an essay, short answer and a prototype.
    3. Select your top two classes.
    4. Students must complete the application themselves; parental impersonation will result in disqualification.
